Macau recorded 4.59 million visitor arrivals in the first two months of this year, up 8.4 percent year-on-year, The Macau Post Daily reports today, citing official statistics.
Visitors from Asia accounted for 97.5 percent of all arrivals between January and February.
The number of mainland visitors reached 2.78 million, a year-on-year growth of 14.7 percent. Mainlanders accounted for 60.5 percent of all visitor arrivals.
Some 1.16 million Hong Kong residents visited Macau in the two-month period, a drop of 2.4 percent from a year earlier. Hongkongers accounted for 25.2 percent of all visitors.
Same-day visitors made up 54.6 percent of the total number of arrivals.
Macau received 28 million visitors in 2011.(macaunews)
