In a regular meeting of the Cultural Industries Council on Monday, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng said that Macau’s cultural industry has developed in a way that it has gradually joined the business sector, a development that he said has been caused by a synergistic effect based on constant cooperation between the government, the business sector, universities and research institutions.
Monday’s meeting, which took place at the World Trade Centre Macau (WTCM) in Zape, was this year’s second plenary meeting of the council, which Tam chairs. The council was founded in 2010.
Tam also said that Macau’s cultural and creative brands have also been established step by step, gradually conquering the local and overseas market.
According to the Macau Post Daily, Tam pledged that in the future the government will strengthen its efforts to assist the city’s cultural sector in launching its promotional campaigns, allowing them to enter the overseas market, create a business matching platform and expand the size of Macau’s cultural industry so as to promote the city’s economic diversification process.
