The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) urged the public Tuesday not to go to the city’s two beaches as a “black substance” had been found there.
According to a DSAMA statement, the “black substance” arrived with the tide and was spotted on the sand at Hac Sa Beach on Sunday and Cheoc Van Beach Tuesday, adding that Macau Waste System Company (CSR) staff were still cleaning up the beaches.
A notice was also put up at the two beaches in Coloane advising beachgoers to stay clear of the area.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) and the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) have inspected the beaches and taken samples of the unknown substance from both beaches, according to the statement.
The statement did not elaborate on the “black substance” found on the two beaches.
