Three more McDonald’s will open by the end of this year giving Macau a total of 32 of the fast-food giant’s outlets, Golden Burger (Macau) Food Company Limited and Developmental Licensee for McDonald’s Macau CEO Michelle Ho said on Tuesday.

Ho made the remarks while speaking to reporters at a ceremony to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary in Macau with a McDonald’s “Memories Playland” at the Macau Science Centre in Nape. It is open to the public free of charge until May 7.

Also during the ceremony, the company awarded five of its employees who have been with the eatery since the first outlet was opened in Rua do Campo 30 years ago by Ho’s parents.

Without revealing any figures, Ho stressed that the company has not seen a decline in business over the past 10 years.

Ho said as a franchisee, she could not comment about the brand’s plans in Macau but said she would continue to grow the business in terms of outlet numbers.

“We will open three more outlets this year and we’ll continue to open more in subsequent years,” Ho said, declining to say where the new fast-food restaurants will be located.

While the number of local outlets will hit 32 this year, Ho said that her company was also the US company’s developmental licensee in Zhuhai and Zhongshan, and as more places are also opening there, the company would have a total of 80 eateries in the mainland and Macau by the end of this month.
