Online gambling platforms aimed at mainland Chinese gamblers reportedly helped disgraced junket king Alvin Chau earn a fortune of 8.7 billion yuan in just four years.

After Alvin Chau was cleared of fraud (though not a raft of other crimes), Macao’s gaming operators are no longer entitled to more than 2 billion patacas in compensation.
Chau was given an 18-year prison sentence earlier this year after being convicted of scores of counts of fraud, criminal association and illicit gaming activities.
The defence and the prosecution have concluded their arguments in the case that involves 80 counts of fraud, illicit gambling, and money laundering.
Chau and five other defendants also found liable in compensation claims filed against the group by Macao government and five gaming operators.
