Macau, China, 6 Dec – Ukrainian runner Mykhaylo Iveruk today won the 2009 edition of the men’s marathon in Macau with a time of 02:17:45, followed by Kenyan Micah Kipserem Chuma, six seconds later.
Third place went to Kenyan Jusius Kibet Mebur with a time of 02:17:58.
In the women’s marathon, ethiope Roman Gebre Gessese won with a time of 02:37:08, followed by China’s Lili Yuan and Polish Agnieszka Janasiak with times of 02:41:44 and 02:42:09, respectively.
The 2008 men’s marathon was won by Ethiopian runner Yemane Tsegay Adhane with a time of 02:15:06 and the women’s marathon was won by China’s Lili Yuan with a time of 02:36:40.
Around 3,700 athletes took part in the marathon, which was organised by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Macau Athletic Association.
