Municipal authorities ordered the killing of 10,000 chickens and pigeons imported from mainland China.
The decision was taken after discovering the H7 strain of the avian influenza virus (AIV) in the supply market. None of the affected poultry were delivered to municipal markets.
Live poultry sales were also banned in February and June of 2016 due to the same virus.
Authorities did not announce when the sale of live chickens and pigeons in local markets will resume.
