Macau’s number of visitor arrivals between last Friday, Chinese New Year’s (CNY) Eve and Wednesday fell 76.5 per cent to 243,204 compared to the same CNY period last year, according to data from the Public Security Police (PSP), which includes the Immigration Department, released by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Thursday.
The figures show that the number of visitor arrivals has dropped continuously over the CNY holiday period. On CNY’s Eve, the number dropped 34.6 per cent to 55,098. Wednesday, the number of arrivals decreased by 89.1 per cent to 21,584.
According to the Macau Post Daily, the number of mainland Chinese visitor arrivals declined 81.7 per cent between CNY’s Eve and Wednesday to 139,580 — on Wednesday, their number fell 91.8 per cent to 12,431.
