Visitors’ non-gaming spending rose by 13.6 percent to 69.7 billion patacas (US$ 8.7 billion) last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
Overnight visitors’ non-gaming spending grew by 13 percent to 56.2 billion patacas. Same-day visitors’ non-gaming spending rose by 16.2 percent to 13.4 billion patacas.
Visitors’ per capita non-gaming spending rose by 3.5 percent to 1,946 patacas last year. Mainlanders’ per capita non-gaming spending grew by 1.8 percent to 2,242 patacas, exceeding other major visitor segments.
In 2018, visitors’ per capita expenditure on shopping rose by 7.2 percent to 916 patacas, accounting for 47.1 percent of total per capita spending. Per capita spending on accommodation (498 patacas) and food and beverages (389 patacas) accounted for 25.6 percent and 20 percent respectively.
MICE visitors spent more on non-gaming activities than any other major visitor segment, 3,506 patacas per capita.
Last year’s gross gaming receipts amounted to 302.8 billion patacas, a year-on-year growth of 14 percent.
